We have been caught off guard by emergency surgery for Jody's daughter who broke her leg skiing in New Hampshire last week. I am trudging ahead while Jody is tending to her and trying to beg her to come home. The book is moving forward. I am working on some individual chapters and trying to pull some of the stuff together. We have been gathering information on publishing and trying to go ahead and set up seminars and continuing education classes. Jody is in the process of writing her story so you can kind of understand where we are coming from and what happened to us. I am working on the form letters trying to make them generic enough for anybody to use and to be worded for specific applications. I am also exploring the world of blogging. I am reading a book and trying out some of the examples and just reading blogs and seeing what other people are doing. I have also found Donald Trumps university blog and newsletter to be very important in my research. Of course everyone listens or should I say wants to hear what Donald Trump has to say.... I have also found the e-myth by Michael Gerber to be an excellent source of information. I totally resonated with Sara's story as any entrepreneur would. When you first start something it is fear that keeps you from moving forward....the I DON'T KNOW factor keeps us in our seats. When a new business starts it is very important to keep your eye on the prize. Sometime the prize can escape us in the daily routine. As Sara put it in the e-myth I wish I could just go back to making the pies. I am aware that most new business run into the hazards of what am I doing here. Again FEAR is what keeps us from moving forward. Something I have found in my research is nobody else knows either. I think that when we own our own business we get to write the rules ourselves. We get to decide what is right and wrong. We get to make the decisions and weather they are good or bad we will learn something. Either don't do that again or how can we make this even better. Some decisions if made wrong can ruin us but for the most part they won't take you under just give you more incentive to move forward and try something new.
Betsy, this looks great! I know it feels like it going kinda slow but all the stuff we are doing will propel us forward, I love it. the book I'm reading is How to Make it BIG in the Seminar Business by Paul Karasik, it's very informative and interesting like the e-myth. I tried the number for Karen and it was the wrong number, oh well I'll fined out more when I get home, see ya soon...
